When we take on a WWII novel, most of the early work goes into where the book sits: which categories it can honestly claim and can also rank in, what the subtitle and keywords need to say, and how the cover reads next to the fifty covers a reader scrolls past before yours. A category dominated by two or three household names is a decision to lose quietly. Part of our job is finding the shelf where your book can win.

Reviews from readers who chose the book early tell us whether the positioning was right while there is still time to change it.
